Introduction | Raising Ranger

Life is full of blessings. They come in many forms. Relationships are amongst the most powerful and most fulfilling examples of these blessings. We are experiencing this in the fullest as we welcome Ranger, a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy into our home and into our lives. We could not be more excited, and we love him so much already.

There have been countless hours of research and learning. We seek to give credit to those sources of wisdom often. Not only have they been extremely useful and encouraging to us, but we believe that these resources can be useful to anyone welcoming a new pup into the home or those who are just looking to have the best relationship possible with their canid companions.

The Raising Ranger series will be a long-term journal of our training, adventures, lessons, mishaps, and more with our wonderful pup. On this journey we will certainly share any resources, equipment, gear, adventures, medical information, and experiences of all kinds that we come across together.

Team Dog

We are leaning heavily on Mike Ritland’s Team Dog resources in our training as well as in fostering our understanding of how Ranger’s mind works. Most of the training techniques you will see in our videos are straight from his program. We strive to keep detailed notes and logs of Ranger’s training sessions as well.

Marking Our Territory

Marking Our Territory is a YouTube channel that details the lives of Penny and Zero, Rhodesian Ridgebacks who live with their family in the Chicagoland area. The videos, suggestions, life lessons, resources, and community encouragement offered by Will serve as inspiration for us to undertake this project.

German Shepherd Man

Charles, aka. German Shepherd Man has a YouTube channel and website of the same title. He has been raising and breeding German Shepherd’s longer than I have been alive. He has years of experience in raising and training German Shepherds and has come across many different training styles and techniques. He also has access to veterinary, medical, and nutritional resources through his channel. While Ranger is a Rhodesian Ridgeback and not a GSD, the experience and resources represented by German Shepherd Man are extremely valuable.
